Siabod Walk March 2010
Our walk began at Capel Curig and we strolled down the valley through the woods, then turned south at Pont Cyfyng to climb the ridge to Siabod. A lovely day to begin with, we settled for a warm lunch in the sunshine beside the lake, sheltered from the westerly breeze. The deep turquoise waters of the quarry made an impression. We followed the path to the west side of the tarn below the east ridge, thinking it would be quicker, but as the guide books warn, it was very boggy, marked with at least one nose dive. Anyway, we made it and began the slow climb, keeping away from the crest of the ridge for Doris's sake. The breeze was chilly on the summit, and the brilliant views of the snowy mountains to the west was a reminder of the severe winter and cold spring, and we didn't tarry. Warmth and sunshhine returned as we desended though the forest. The Bryn Tyrch provided an fine evening meal. New boots for G. from Joe Brown. Return to home page.
