Bonneval sur Arc, August 2007
Our visit to Bonneval, near the border between France and Italy, involved many walks in the Alps, several of which are illustrated here. The most remarkable feature of these walks was the dramatic change in the weather: the average daytime temperature dropped from around 28 to 5 degrees in just 48 hours, and heavy snow blocked the pass to Val-d'Isère. Needless to say, this was unusual for early August, and resulted in dramatic scenery and views once the clouds lifted. The 'balcony' walk (Sentier Balcon) was most spectacular in this respect, and John and Paul made it all the way to Refuge du Carro. Homemade food dominated the week, as we experienced each other's culinary skills each day. Back to Home Page.
