lengthy but magnificent walk up to Glyder Fach to achieve an ambition to
stage a photo of some WKW members perched on the cantilever stone. Mission
accomplished. We headed up the ridge from Gwern Gof Isaf, facing the surprisingly
fresh winds as we emerged from the farm and the campsite to embark on our
adventure. My old Poucher’s guide recommended this as a quiet route
in 1960, and so it still is. Poucher also thought the views from this ridge,
Braich y Ddeuigwm, ideal for photographing Tryfan and the Heather Terrace,
which also proved to be the case on this day. The cool winds seemed to cleanse
the atmosphere and the views were etched sharp; Castell y Gwynt was imposing
from the summit. The screes descending to Bwlch Tryfan were as cumbersome
as ever, and drew some complaints from our party; but all was remedied by
fine food at the Bryn Tyrch. Return to Home Page. |
